Glug Brighton | Christmas tree auction.

3rd December, 2014

Glug brighton Chritsmas tree auction

It was a good turn-out for the Glug festive meet-up.

The atmosphere was relaxed and although only being the 2nd December, everyone seemed game to get into the Christmas spirit. The event was again co-hosted by Agency Rush and Crush Creative and the party vibe made for a much more easy-going event which was fitting for the creative charity auction.

As this was a Christmas party, with a Christmas tree auction, we thought it would be worth us taking along our Christmas card challenge so our fellow gluggers could have a go at making our origami Christmas tree. We had a fair amount of interest, and the setting was in fact perfect for the concept. It turns out that people quite like to be challenged to a bit of festive origami whilst they sip their beer.

The Auction was loads of fun! Mr. B the Gentleman Rhymer definitely added a touch of comedy to the affair and it was great to see so many of the creative Christmas trees raising some serious cash for the homeless charity EMMAUS.

We had our eye on the neon tree created by Filthymedia. I envisaged this would be one of the most popular designs of the night so didn’t rate my chances; only to come back from the bar to find my boyfriend in full bidding swing! He was in the running with a bid of £260.00 only to be promptly taken down by the winning bid of £300.00 (I think).

Seriously good fun though and great to know that all the money is going to an important charity that does so much to help people work their way out of homelessness. It has since been announced that the event rased over £2000 for the local charity!

The Gentleman Rhymer, (a tweed clad parodist rapper) did a good job of entertaining us post auction with a touch of “chap-hop”, blasting out some classic hip-hop and German techno tracks performed and re-worked in his comical, eloquent “chap-hop” style.

Funny man, check out his site for his upcoming performance dates.

If you are interested in getting involved in the next Glug in Brighton then visit the website and become a member - you’ll get to meet a number of creative-minded people and I think you will be sure to have a good time. If you are not Brighton based then you can simply search for a Meetup near you.
