Look Out! Another Postal Strike – 17th July

July 14th, 2009

We have just been informed that the Communication Workers Union has called a strike on Friday across 21 delivery and processing centres from London to Edinburgh.

The union claims it is taking the action in a bid to force Royal Mail into “meaningful talks over modernisation” because “pressure and stress is at breaking point for postal workers”.

This could have series repercussions if you are running any time specific direct mail campaigns so please bear this in mind.

  1. I’ve been a union member all my life, up till 4 years ago even being a shop steward but now i’m ashamed to say that i was. What is the union trying to do bankrupt the Royal mail, the main thing is that the CWU don’t want temps to help out with the back log of work that will be built up over the coming weeks but the mail workers to get the benefit of the strike by doing the overtime, also dismissing new systems all things must change and instead of only a few people loosing there jobs it will be the whole lot if the Royal mail goes to the wall and they will be on the dole with the rest of us that can’t get permenant jobs or even temp ones.
