Branding in the recession – Don’t miss the obvious

Nexus have had much success by applying search engine optimisation (SEO) for its web site and  have been working with Fresh Egg to help us achieve the desired results.

We went over to see them this week to discuss increasing  use of their SEO services and how we could gain more exposure to people who would be searching for products or services which we provide. I had forgotten to take a pen and was given one of their own branded pens to use.

Straight away I questioned them as to why they had not put their web address or phone number or what they do on the pen!!

The response was “We didin’t think about it and the company we bought them from didn’t suggest it to us”

Pens are brilliant giveaway corporate gifts, they are always a welcome little handout and can be used anywhere. They last for ages and are a constant reminder of your brand ,what you do and how to contact you. Best of all they are not expensive.

Next time around Fresh Egg will talk to Nexus about their marketing and we will make sure that the right message is displayed.

So if you are thinking of ways to spend those precious pounds during this difficult trading time, make sure you don’t forget the obvious and if you have a marketing agency, pick up the phone and talk to them. After all they might just think of something else to help you do it better.

  1. Hindsight makes everything so obvious doesn’t it. Promotional pens are a great way of keeping your brand ‘front of mind’
