The race is on - and British history is made!

16th April, 2010

Almost 10 million Britons watched the country's first televised election debate last night. A huge step forward in the world of politics.

Nick Clegg, David Cameron and Gordon Brown, appeared in the first ever live televised political debate being broadcast to the nation, from the TV studios in Manchester ahead of the British General Election to be held on May 6, 2010.

Britain has never before held a televised leaders' debate, and the general opinion is that it was a success despite a rules-heavy format that barred audience applause. Two more debates are planned before the May elections and now that the three gentlemen know what to expect and have hopefully lost their "first night nerves",? it promises to be an interesting run up to the big day.
